- Experience with, and understanding of, both military and civil aviation.
- Understanding of Controlled Airspace (Class A-E); Uncontrolled Airspace; Special Use Airspace (Prohibited Areas, Restricted Areas, Military Operations Areas, Warning Areas, Alert Areas, Controlled Firing Areas, National Security Areas); and other relevant airspace (Advisory Areas, Temporary Flight Restrictions, Military Training Routes, Aerial Refueling Tracks, Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace).
- Understanding of military flight operations.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills and strong verbal communication; able to prepare written reports detailing the results of technical studies.
- Provide expert technical review of various planning documents in the field of Special Use Airspace.
- Provide expert planning advice to clients in the field Special Use Airspace applications.
- Experience preparing or contributing to environmental assessments/impact statements pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel, and data analysis software
- Demonstrated experience and strong desire for multi-disciplinary internal collaboration, and proposal development; strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agencies.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to travel for project work.
- Previous experience as a military pilot or Air Traffic Controller is highly preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical), Acoustics, or related field.
- 10 years’ aviation or related experience (i.e., air traffic control, airspace management, military pilot).
