Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven technical, communication, and organization skills
- Experience with coastal tailed frog and/or other amphibian salvage, including capture, handling, transport, relocation, and euthanasia according to Canadian Council of Animal Care guidelines is strongly preferred
- Experience using exclusion fencing, drift fencing, pitfall and minnow traps, and netting for instream, wetland, and terrestrial amphibian capture
- Ability to identify all life stages of coastal tailed frog and other amphibian species in northern BC
- Understanding of coastal tailed frog and/or other amphibian habitat requirements and life cycle and chronology for species occurring in northern BC
- Experience working in a construction environment is preferred
- Experience driving large trucks on unpaved roads, particularly active industrial or forest service roads
- Experience using digital data collection tools, and the ability to use iPads or iPhones is preferred
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Capable of working with, and providing advice to, clients and contractors
- Able to deal with changing conditions and priorities while in the field
- Ability to travel for up to two weeks at a time, on multiple trips over the field season
- Thrives in an environment with diverse and dynamic projects, and enjoys working on multi-disciplinary scopes of work
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology is preferred, though technical diploma will be acceptable
Possess or working towards a professional accreditation (i.e., P.Bio, R.P.Bio)
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Wildlife Biologist, with experience in amphibian surveys and salvage
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather
