Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Field Supervisor in the Interior Plateau or Northwest Coast culture areas with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in cultural resource management. Supervising experience in the Subarctic-Boreal Forest culture area an asset.   
  • Minimum B. Sc. in Archaeology, or BA in Anthropology with a major in archaeology.
  • Experience identifying traditional use sites & features, CMTs, and lithic artifacts.
  • Experience with lithic artifact analysis and cataloguing.
  • Experience with mapping, pedestrian surveys, subsurface testing, excavation, data collection (field notes, photographs, digital information).
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
  • Dedicated to following and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work away from home/stay in hotels or camps for periods of up to 2 weeks during the field season (May-Nov).
  • Desire to work closely (in both leadership and supporting roles) with other environmental professionals and First Nations.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Experience with driving on forestry roads and operating ATVs an asset.  
  • Willingness to learn and develop professionally is required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, or related field.
Minimum 2-3 years’ work experience; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g. advanced degree) and experience. Co-op / Internship experience preferred. 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
