Your Opportunity

Your role will include assisting staff with report submittals and coordinating cultural resources fieldwork for various programs and clients including: archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, construction monitoring, report and section writing, Department of Parks and Recreation 523 site record forms, as well as other tasks as assigned. Must demonstrate awareness for workplace safety; and be willing to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervision. You will work closely with Stantec's project managers, laboratory resources and environmental staff. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget
  • Interact and interface with clients and environmental regulators
  • Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
  • Assignments/projects are advanced in nature and require following the instructions of senior staff
  • Responsible for planning and conducting assignments/ projects having broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasks
  • Conduct or request records searches at CHRIS Information Centers, federal, state, and tribal agencies as needed 
  • Assist with permitting applications (Organic Act, ARPA, USFS, BoR, BLM FWAs, state, tribal)

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery methods
  • Ability to provide well-reasoned recommendations as to site eligibility and integrity
  • Construction monitoring
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Capable of representing Stantec in interactions with clients, agency personnel, and Native American tribal members
  • Coordinating with GIS staff, PIs, or project managers to collect and manage field data and forms
  • Participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required

Education and Experience

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) degree in Archaeology, or related field preferred. No experience in Cultural Resource Management required. Experience in California preferred.

This position is primarily field based. Ability to travel and conduct field work for extended periods of time of 1+ weeks at a time is required. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Some tasks may require you to execute typical office activities. The typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
