Your Opportunity
As part of our Environmental Services team, the Archaeology group has an opportunity for seasonal Field Technicians in our Hamilton, London, Waterloo, and Markham, ON offices.
At Stantec, you will find that our work reaches various sectors and industries, including transportation, community development and infrastructure, oil and gas, and aggregates and mining, to name but a few. Our upcoming field season is anticipated to be busy and rewarding, with opportunities to work on large and complex projects involving stratified and deeply buried urban contexts and Indigenous archaeological sites.
Your Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of licensed archaeologists, the successful applicant(s) will assume responsibility for carrying out Stage 2-4 archaeological fieldwork. This can include, but is not limited to:
- Pedestrian survey
- Test pit survey
- Archaeological unit excavation and site preparation
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must have past work experience with physically demanding outdoor labour.
- Applicants must be able to travel within Ontario and able to work out-of-town and overnight for short and long durations.
- The ability to carry out strenuous field work is essential, and the ability to perform rigorous physical activities, such as lifting up to 50 lbs and being capable of repetitive movement under adverse weather conditions.
- A full G driver’s license in good standing is preferred, and licensed drivers may be required to drive company vehicles as part of their work.
Education and Experience
- Current undergraduate or graduate students in anthropology or archaeology are encouraged to apply, but formal education in archaeology is not a requirement.
- Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
