Your Opportunity

As the Area Manager, you will leverage your experience within the state of Tennessee to grow our Transportation practice and manage the design and delivery of large projects.

You will play a pivotal role in expanding our existing client and project base and in efforts to position the firm to acquire new business in the Transportation market. You will have responsibility as Area Manager for projects in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and completion.

You will help develop a growth plan for the Transportation sector in Tennessee and coordinate with other Area Managers in the Region to continue to foster a collaborative work environment and help deliver the strategic growth plan for our clients. 

Your Key Responsibilities

·        Building and maintaining strong relationships within Nashville DOT and with other transportation clients that allow us to have a positive impact on the communities we serve and grow our people through work on exciting and challenging projects.

·        Develop value-added solutions to clients' needs and lead the successful pursuit of contracts for engineering and consulting services.

·        Increase the company's profile within the transportation industry through participation with appropriate business and professional organizations.

·        Perform strategic planning and plan execution for both operations and business development.

·        Planning, organizing, and supervising the work of other transportation professionals.

·        Resource management, recruitment, career development, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring.

·        Effectively negotiate, plan, monitor, and deliver quality projects and consulting services.

·        Reviewing engineered designs and plans for conformance with applicable state, regional & local agency standards.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A wide range experience with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) projects as well as Transportation projects for other clients in Tennessee. 
  • An ability to develop schedules and plans for complex projects using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Experienced at preparing powerful and impactful presentations utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint software.
  • Experienced in developing, negotiating, and managing scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Proven business development and marketing experience in Oklahoma is required.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff.  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in the State of Tennessee (or ability to obtain within 6 months) 
  • Minimum of twenty (20) years of progressive engineering and project management experience 

The position will primarily work in an office setting. Some travel may be required, such as to visit clients, deliver plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients, or to attend meetings. May also occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.
