Your Opportunity
Stantec's New York City office is seeking a Bridge Design Manager to lead and manage engineering teams on large infrastructure projects and pursuits. An opportunity is presented for a highly motivated Bridge Design Manager to establish a leading role on project design teams. Join our dynamic Bridges and Structures team and work alongside others who share your passion to support communities through exciting and unique projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Oversee design development and project deliverables for projects such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.
- Provide technical assistance in resolving complex problems and decision making.
- Oversee construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
- Perform and lead various design projects under Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build environments.
- Mentor and monitor work by other bridge engineers. Provide design oversight and perform quality control and quality assurance checks on deliverables.
- Perform client coordination including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meeting, review comments etc.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations on various pursuits, including large Design/Build pursuits within the New York City Metropolitan area.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ.
- Proficiency in STAAD, CSI Bridge, SAP, RISA, FBMP, PCA Structure Point Suite, MiDAS Civil, AutoDesk Structural Bridge Design, LARSA 4D, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and similar structural analysis and design software.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, OpenBridge and/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MicroStation.
- Expert level understanding of bridge design and rating codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and/or projects concurrently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team building skills are essential to meet the expectations of this position.
- Experience and familiarity with agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, Amtrak etc. is desired.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent, Graduate Degree highly desired.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the structural design of bridges and transportation structures and ability to work as key personnel or subject-matter-expert on conventional and alternative bridge design and transportation projects is desirable.
Position will primarily work in an office setting.
