Join us and design your place with Stantec.

Your Opportunity

Broad role covering all aspects of business development, technical leadership, team leadership, and project delivery within the service area offering associated with Building Envelope New Construction and Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx). As of the date of the offer, we project that one junior to intermediate-level staff member will be assigned to the New Construction / BECx Team from each of the Calgary and Edmonton branch offices. It will be the responsibility of the Team Lead, in cooperation with the rest of the department, to grow this team over time based on increasing revenues associated with this service offering.

This sector of our business involves working on new construction / BECx projects where MH now Stantec acts as either a 3rd party quality assurance component to the architectural prime consultant/builder/developer or as the BECx agent/authority typically for the owner. This service line typically involves a form of design review (either as building envelope experts suggesting design revisions to the Engineer or Architect of Record or as an envelope expert reviewing the work from a commissioning standpoint against defined owners’ requirements for the project) as well as construction field services including quality assurance site visits and testing requirements. The role will involve active participation in these activities, as well as oversight of those completing them.

Although building envelope concentrated, the successful candidate would often work within larger MH now Stantec teams who are completing other engineering scopes of service for a project (for example, larger full-building commissioning roles, energy/sustainability roles, etc.), or otherwise will be involved on projects where MH now Stantec's only role is building envelope related and will therefore lead these projects.

The successful candidate will be in a leadership position responsible for driving this service line forward from a business perspective within the Building Specialty Services Business Unit in Alberta while maintaining contact with similar business leaders in MH now Stantec's other North American offices thereby ensuring the company processes and technical excellence is maintained as standard.

As such, the expectation is that the successful candidate will have significant technical and sales history and familiarity with this service line based on past work experience, and will have local industry recognition/contacts (i.e. Architects, developers/builders, contractors, government, residential and commercial property managers and portfolio owners, etc.). In addition, the successful candidate will be able to build their industry client contact list, dedicating a component of their time to marketing and service line growth.

Your Key Responsibilities
