Your Opportunity
Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec’s, Buildings group provides integrated engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial clients with a focus on transit, telecom, waste management, higher education, and food/beverage facilities that require reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit solutions. The combined skills of our engineers, technicians, and support personnel with diverse backgrounds in design and construction provide clients with a team recognized as leaders in the field.
Our Markham office is seeking a Buildings Revit Designer to round out our team.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Create, advance, and modify detailed Revit models for electrical systems such as power, lighting, fire alarm, emergency, and technology systems for ICI projects
- Work with other engineering and design disciplines to coordinate electrical systems models for efficient design coordination
- Work with other BIM management teams to resolve clashes between models, review BIM implementation strategies specific to projects, and provide feedback during BIM working groups
- Field investigation of electrical equipment condition to ensure model relevance
- Participate in Feasibility/preliminary engineering studies to formulate, determine, and evaluate design criteria for modeling and engineering design work, and develop options for attaining the functionality required by the client
- Assist in field review services during construction, entailing review of shop drawings, preparation of site instructions, change notices, and inspections
- Liaison/coordinate with clients, contractors, and authorities
- Stay updated on the latest technological trends and best practices in electrical BIM procedures
Capabilities and Credentials
- Prior experience working with Revit and coordinating on multi-disciplinary projects
- General interest in construction and, in particular, in electrical and mechanical systems - Strong written and oral communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in the accuracy of modeling and completeness of data
- Demonstrated effectiveness working in a multi-discipline team
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset
- Working experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in electrical engineering technology or related from a recognized/affiliated institution
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
