Your Opportunity
Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec's Buildings group provides integrated engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, residential and commercial clients with a focus on transit, telecom, waste management, higher education and food/beverage facilities that require reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit solutions. The combined skills of our engineers, technicians and support personnel with their diverse backgrounds in design and construction provide clients with a team recognized as leaders in the field.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Act as a structural designer for small and medium-sized projects, with the intent to develop skills towards a future discipline lead role for larger projects
- Coordinate work with other disciplines including architectural, mechanical and electrical
- Select appropriate methods and techniques to obtain design solutions
- Perform detailed structural design calculations
- Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables before submission to client
- Attend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, post-construction review, and structural condition assessments
- Prepare written reports based on the structural analysis of existing buildings and other structures
- Work within assigned project budgets and schedules
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience and interest in buildings projects are required
- Design in concrete, steel, wood and masonry; and performing building condition assessments an asset
- Familiarity with Revit Structure and FEA software(s) is an asset
- An interest in developing design skills on small structural design assignments and working within a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting team
- Strong written and oral communication
- Familiarity with Revit and CAD to complete drawing development and edits
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 2 years of experience in design
