About the role

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Business Leader – Structures, Bridges & Maritime to lead the national Structures sector within our Transport Australia Business Centre. This senior leadership position is responsible for driving operational excellence, people leadership, client success, and safety performance across a diverse and growing national structures team.

 

Reporting to the Business Centre Operations Leader, you will shape the strategic direction of the Structures, Bridges & Maritime discipline, strengthen our market position, and develop high‑performing teams across Australia. You will play a critical role in delivering outstanding technical outcomes for clients while fostering a positive, inclusive and high‑performance culture aligned to Stantec’s values.

 

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Leading business performance across the sector, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue, utilisation, and gross margin management.

  • Driving a collaborative, high‑performance team culture focused on capability, delivery excellence, and employee engagement.

  • Providing strategic leadership across safety, quality, risk and operational performance, ensuring compliance with HSSE and quality standards.

  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships and supporting major project pursuits to secure repeat and new business.

  • Overseeing workforce planning, resourcing, staff development, and succession planning across geographically dispersed teams.

  • Partnering with Project Managers, Practice Leaders and Group Leaders to ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality, client‑focused solutions.

  • Leading cross‑sector collaboration and work‑sharing to support national utilisation and growth initiatives

 

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related technical discipline coupled with at least ten years’ experience within a senior position.

  • Professional registration or working towards (eg. CPEng)

  • Demonstrated success in business performance management including forecasting, budgeting, and operational optimisation.

  • Proven experience building, leading and developing teams across multiple locations.

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to drive revenue growth, margin improvement and client satisfaction.

  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence, engage and inspire others.
