Business Leader, Geosciences, WA
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Business Leader to lead the Geosciences team in Western Australia. This team executes projects in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering, Contaminated Land, Mine Closure, Tailings, and Coastal and Marine, with extensive projects and clients throughout WA.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Business Leader (BL) is responsible for business operations, encompassing safety leadership, people leadership, client service, growth and operational excellence within the region. In a region with an exciting future, you’ll play a role in growing our existing client base, exploring new opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing clients. Day to day tasks would involve:
· Work with the Business Centre Operations Leader (BCOL) and Regional Director (RD) in preparing annual Business Centre (BC) business plans and budgets.
· Responsible for continuous improvement and effective management of projects and staff within their region (resourcing, utilisation, and gross margin management).
· Responsible for winning work and achieving net revenue and backlog targets from within their region.
· Provide leadership and direction to all staff and ensure the objectives, actions and focus of the business centre is clearly communicated.
· Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec's high-performance culture with a focus on talent, productivity, and financial performance.
· Responsible for regional talent management lifecycle including recruitment, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
· Work with project delivery teams and Team Leaders to drive quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet and exceed client expectations.
· Responsible for client relationships, strategic project pursuits and major project leadership within their region and working towards sustainable sector growth.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
· Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, or comparable technical degree coupled with at least ten years’ relevant experience within a senior position.
· Demonstrated leadership experience and an ability to create a high performing culture.
· Strong commercial acumen and significant project delivery experience.
· An ability to influence and negotiate through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Highly developed client relations and stakeholder management skills, and knowledge of the WA geosciences market.
