CAD Technician

Your Opportunity
In this position as a CAD Technician, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of surveyors, engineers, and technical experts on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients. Under the supervision of a licensed engineer, you will perform CAD support for civil engineering and development projects to design wet utility improvements, grading, and drainage plans and exhibits. You will provide CAD support to assist in the preliminary design and development of site improvement drawings, cross sections, and sheet layouts and assist with the incorporation of these designs into of a wide variety of projects (residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, etc.). We will provide you with the opportunity to work in a dynamic team setting to obtain applicable experience to enhance your design and CAD skills as you work under the supervision and mentorship of experienced professionals.
The selected candidate will have demonstrated technical design competence, and the desire and ability to exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
- Prepare CAD drawings on concurrent projects, including site plans, topographic base incorporation, plan and paper space layering, and red-line and comment digitization and updates, coordination of multidiscipline inputs and files from both internal and external team members, clients, and agencies.
- Prepare initial concept drawings, design iterations, entitlement, permitting, and construction plan sets under the direction of a licensed civil engineer and in conjunction with a community development team in project completion.
- Learn development and CAD standards, contribute to team meetings, design collaborations, project schedule estimations, and coordinate findings with others involved in projects.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D required.
- Knowledge of CAD standards and relevant software programs including, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Office, and related software a plus.
- Strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
- Requires ability to work well in a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 year of experience in Civil 3D performing similar tasks in an office environment.
This is an in-office position not suited to remote work. Typically, this position works in an open-concept office environment.
