Your Opportunity

You will work as a team member on small and large projects with support from the Senior Construction Manager to evaluate select, specify, and engineer systems or products. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans and designs of structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, tunnels and other projects.  

Your Key Responsibilities

·        The Chief Tunnel Inspector is the lead inspector for the project, manages the deployment of tunnel inspectors, and coordinates quality assurance testing.  Responsibilities will include:

o    Performing inspection of tunnel and shaft construction using Drill and Blast excavation techniques.

o    Inspection of forms, reinforcement, and placement of CIP shaft and tunnel liner. 

o    Inspection of near surface CIP structures

o    Production of daily activity reports on the compliance of the work with the contract documents to include photos of the construction progress.

o    Witness testing performed by the contractor and provide reports on the results.

o    Recording deficiencies in the work and providing information for use in noncompliance reports.

o    Review of reports from junior inspectors.

o    Inspection of material deliveries and collection of delivery records.

o    Installation of vibration monitoring devices and collection of records.

o    Observe and report on the implementation of the project safety and environmental plans.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or other related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience working on construction projects. Engineer-in-training registration preferred. Minimum of 7 years of Tunnel inspection or relative experience. Familiarity with project information systems (Procore or similar). Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Must be willing and able to work Weekends. OSHA 30-hr a plus. Good written and verbal skills.
