Your Opportunity
This role is for a Civil Design EIT focusing on Mission Critical Data Center projects within our Community Development Group. Within this team, you will have the opportunity to work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country. The Mission Critical space requires a very proactive, responsive, and efficient design team with projects serving Fortune 100 companies.
The engineers on this team are a core design group dedicated to serving Data Center clients and similar major commercial programs. The projects within the team require a variety and diverse set of skills to assist our clients with design, entitlement approvals, permitting, and construction. Within this team you will be exposed to different design requirements across multiple geographic regions as well as different Mission Critical and commercial projects of various sizes and operational needs.
This position involves working collaboratively within the Mission Critical core design team, project partners, and various different services in the development of private civil site designs; construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing opinions of cost; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer. Tasks may include but are not limited to; site design and layout; code review; planning and land use entitlement process; AHJ coordination; grading design; drainage design; utility design; erosion and sediment control; specifications; and creation of project details.
- Performs civil design tasks using knowledge of relevant software programs.
- Works with other engineering disciplines, professionals, and project partners in the completion of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer or project coordinator.
- Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/supervisor.
- Performs calculations to analyze and design civil site design components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Understanding of civil engineering concepts (i.e. site layout, grading, utility design, etc.) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability and desire to train in civil site design needs and concepts and grow your skillset to assist the team in project delivery.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to become proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
- Must have good driving record, and valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred.
Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.
