Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support our Anchorage, Alaska Civil Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have interest in engineering design in the fields of aviation, roadways, streets, highways, utilities, water and wastewater, and other heavy civil transportation infrastructure.
The candidate will assist in the development and design of project drawings, details, specifications and quantity estimates in accordance with current Civil Engineering knowledge and practices. The purpose of this position is to provide professional, technical day-to-day support, guidance, coordination, and input to other project team members. Applicant must be capable of working effectively with teams and be willing to learn from peers and supervisors. Work products will include supporting design of transportation infrastructure projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Serve as civil design support on medium to large engineering projects.
- Participant on multidisciplinary teams in an office environment as well as in virtual team environment.
- Support the preparation of studies, design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related designs and construction plans.
- Support the preliminary and detailed civil analysis for transportation and infrastructure related projects.
- Support the production of drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.
- Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong willingness to learn and to be a part of a large global engineering company.
- The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Some travel may be required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Excel preferred
Education and Experience
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering
- 0-1 years’ experience in roadway and highway design
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
