Your Opportunity

Our Transportation practice has an immediate requirement for a Civil Technologist in our Saskatoon office. The role of a Civil Technologist is to work as a team member on roadways, bridge and culvert/hydraulic projects under the guidance of an Engineer. The Civil Technologist will utilize their knowledge and experience to contribute to a variety of projects ranging from material testing, conceptual design through to construction services.

A Civil Technologist will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with material testing, designs and construction administration/support of structures and facilities such as bridges, culverts, railroads, roads, airports, other projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the construction team with roadway projects across Saskatchewan (will require some travel and time away from the office location).
  • Providing survey support for preliminary activities, construction layout, as-builts, and hydraulic surveys.
  • Assisting with site inspections, bridge inspections, and culvert inspections.
  • Perform material quality assurance testing such as nuclear densometer testing and aggregate testing. Lab testing of materials will be on-site in mobile labs and/or in our central lab.
  • Tracking and recording project quantities.
  • Preparing technical and status reports.
  • Review shop drawings and other support documents for construction.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A high degree of problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Motivated, eager to learn and grow, not afraid to take on new responsibilities and work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience with a variety of CAD software is an asset.
  • Experience in a heavy construction setting is an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Experience with Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and City of Saskatoon manuals and specifications would be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary schooling in Civil Engineering Technology or related field & working toward licensure.
  • 2 years of related experience

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
