Commissioning Engineer (Data Centres)
About the role
Stantec have a strong pipeline of Data Centre projects heading into Construction in late 2026 and 2027. Our role in these projects extends to the commissioning of the facility, acting as the Independent Commissioning Agent for many data centre developers. We are looking to build our commissioning team and are seeking to open these opportunities to develop a career in data centre construction.
Working alongside contractors, consultants and clients, you will play a key role in planning and executing commissioning activities for critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, ensuring systems follow the required commissioning procedures and are handed over to the client fitout teams.

We are currently working on a wide range of data centre, health care, commercial, retail, defence, industrial and educational building projects.
Day to day tasks would involve:
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, scripts, procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate and witness testing of electrical, mechanical and control systems.
• Attend factory acceptance and first of kind testing at vendor sites
• Complete commissioning documentation and review final information sets
• Coordinate and liaise with contractors, clients, vendors and commissioning team
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and program delivery
• Bring value to in-house design/project meetings
• Provide positive contributions to our team culture
• Adhere to Stantec professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures
To be successful for this role you'll need:
• Hold a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree, or relevant commissioning qualifications
• Ideally have experience working on data centre projects
• Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
• Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
