Your Opportunity

Our Markham office is hiring college or university co-op students to be an integral part of our civil team starting in April 2025. The term of the assignment will end in September 2025 although there is potential for part time work into the fall of 2025. In this position you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects at various stages in the development site work process, for a range of public and private sector clients.

Applicants must be self-motivated, eager to learn, and possess good computer skills. Attention to detail and accuracy are required as our prime role in the field is to ensure our designs are constructed in compliance with the design details, contract specifications, and the municipal standards. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with review of design guidelines from various adjacencies having jurisdiction.
  • Address redlines on grading and servicing drawings.
  • Undertake or assist with preparation of various reports including due diligence and functional servicing.
  • Assist with construction quantity takeoffs and putting work out to contractors for bidding.
  • Carry out surveys of installations to confirm design compliance.
  • Prepare or assist with preparation of contractor payment certificates, change order processing, construction cost estimates, review of contractor’s time/material claims, etc.
  • Prepare various documents and records (construction progress reports, deficiency reports, etc.) required throughout the development construction process.
  • Assist Project Managers and technical staff with other tasks as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office). A working knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset
  • Valid drivers license and reliable car for daily travel within the GTA
  • Flexibility to work hours more than our core work week of 37.5 hours

Education and Experience

  • Completion of 2 years in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program is preferred  

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
