Your Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Field Inspector to join our growing Program and Construction Management team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and reporting on construction project progress, helping ensure compliance with project designs, and mitigating risks. This full-time role will be based in Vancouver, BC and will require regular travel to client sites or 4-5 days a week in project offices.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Leading all on-site inspection activities to record as-constructed conditions and verify conformance with the contract documents.
- Identifying and documenting site-related construction challenges, and consistently communicating these to the Project Team to resolve in a timely manner.
- Maintaining daily photographic records to document construction activities and regularly archiving for records.
- Quantity surveying, construction progress monitoring, and preparation of daily reports and weekly erosion and sediment control monitoring reports.
- Leading on-site construction progress review meetings, including documenting the discussion and action items.
- Leading construction progress payment reviews, including tracking and reviewing contemplated change orders for out-of-scope work.
- Serving as a main point of contact on site for the Contractor and the ClientReviewing requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications.
- Training and/or mentoring less experienced staff in company procedures, standards and software.
- Conduct daily inspections of construction sites to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Verify the quality of materials and workmanship, including concrete, masonry, steel, and other building components.
- Document inspection findings accurately and comprehensively using photographs, sketches, and written reports.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve any issues that arise during construction.
- Monitor and track project schedules and ensure that deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures.
- Report to Construction Manager or Senior Field Inspector.
- Coordinate with Engineers of Record and designates.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, municipal design standards and design specifications.
- Basic topographical surveying skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office software, particularly with Excel spread sheets. Ideal candidate will have experience with design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Have a valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for use on / off project sites.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the Project Team, Clients, and Contractors in the resolution of construction issues.
- Experience with Autocad & BIM software is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in an accredited Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering program or the equivalent in education and experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of construction inspection experience related with infrastructure projects. This should include industrial / buildings / civil / transit / water / wastewater projects.
