Your Opportunity
Our Construction Managers support the clients’ goals during the construction phase of a development project to ensure cost, schedule and quality standards are met for the project. Your technical knowledge and team-focused approach will enhance our mission to set the standard in our field for exceptional client service and professional excellence, as we grow to better serve clients, communities and provide greater opportunities for employees.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and document contractor’s work for conformance with the approved documents.
- Responsible for the establishment and implementation of the office procedures as they relate to the administration of construction contract with some direction of a senior construction manager.
- Implement project controls for distribution and record keeping of construction drawings, construction contract correspondence, technical records, and other project documents.
- Monitor and document contractor’s work for compliance with project safety standards.
- Coordinate testing on projects.
- Coordinate project construction staking.
- Review shop drawings and submittals.
- Conduct regular (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) construction meetings with contractor, owner and stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly or semi-monthly payment requests.
- Prepare and issue change orders on contract.
- Conduct field evaluations and assessments as required.
- Coordinate with the owner, the contractor and the design team.
- Effectively address project issues in the field and coordinate solutions with contractors, clients, and project personnel.
- Perform final inspections.
- Perform constructability reviews on plans and assist with the preparation of project documents and cost estimates.
- Assist Senior Construction Management staff with client contact, staffing forecasts, and project development.
- Mentor junior staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with construction principals, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Understanding of construction surveying and staking procedures.
- Experience with the use of AutoCAD preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- E-Builder experience preferred.
- MNDOT, NDDOT, and/or WISDOT Certifications are a plus.
- Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team setting.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Education and Experience
Four-year degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection experience or experience as a project Construction Manager.
Experience on large transmission line projects (welded steel). Water preferred.
Position will primarily work in a field setting; may require some office work. Some travel (up to 60% average) may be required.
