Construction Services Manager

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Working knowledge of the following:

• WVDOT Standard Specifications Roads and Bridges, Road and Bridge Standards, Construction Manual, and Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices
• Engineering design for roadways, structures, and drainage as related to highway design and construction.
• Contract development and project management processes
• Schedule, claims, avoidance, claims mitigation, cost estimating and reporting.  

Proficiency with the following:

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various stakeholders/constituents.
• Effective task and time management
• Apply engineering planning and principals to a variety of projects.
• Conduct construction related submittal reviews.
• Prepare technical, financial, administrative, and explanatory correspondence.
• Apply engineering planning and project scheduling principles to a variety of projects.
• Conduct constructability and bid ability reviews, and cost, and schedule analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Thorough knowledge of construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
• Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractor, project team and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations.
• Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Working knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
• Must have good driving record and valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

• Minimum 13 or more years of experience in the practice of construction engineering
• Preferred a prior WVDOT experience.
• BS in Civil Engineering or engineering related field from an ABET accredited university.
• PE License is required (West Virginia PE License is strongly preferred)        
  

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time.

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Job may require travel to active construction projects.
