Construction Supervisor

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Ability to lead, manage, guide, and supervise a diverse team of multi-disciplinary construction services personnel.
• Ability to foster a culture that is conducive to collaborative workplace learning.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals/information.
• Ability to exercise diplomacy, discretion, and sound judgement in dealing with clients, contractors, and the public.
• Ability to manage within approved budgets/resources and prepare timely and concise reports.
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of highway survey, design, construction, paving, and maintenance practices and standards, highway construction equipment, engineering survey/layout and drawing/plans, inspection procedures, quality management and auditing, contract management and administration.
• Thorough knowledge of Ministry policies and procedures as they relate to highway construction and of the Ministry’s Standard Specifications for Highway Construction.

Education and Experience

• The selected candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or reasonable equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years’ previous experience working in Construction Management.
• Direct experience in highway construction, negotiating and in applying and interpreting British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure specifications and contract documents is considered an asset.

Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
