The role of Project Manager with our Water Team is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate may be working independently on smaller projects or providing support to a team of professionals on larger projects. Our group is involved in a wide range of collection system and distribution system projects, including pump stations, sewer and watermain of both large and small diameter including open cut construction, rehabilitation, relining and trenchless projects.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Typical projects or design tasks may include the design of sanitary, storm, and watermain projects and overland flow / civil site plan design projects. Manages project technical tasks including completing design work, calculations, writing specifications and technical reports on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects generally involving sanitary & storm sewer and watermain design, pump stations, stormwater management/drainage plans.
  • Responsible for managing scope, schedule and budget along with technical oversight as required. 
  • You are responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.
  • You develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects.
  • You conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review projects by others.
  • You are involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, and reviewing agency personnel.
  • You are accountable for making decisions on projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.
  • You manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams.
  • You research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects.
  • You assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting.
  • You oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size.
  • You undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.
  • You supervise local staff and are responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key.
  • Coordinate with the Client Manager and attend meetings with the client, team members and sub-consultants.
  • All other duties as required and assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated efficient task management and technical execution of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Broad, general understanding of many relevant areas of municipal engineering with respect to materials as well as industry standards. 
  • General understanding of various construction means and methods and their disturbance impacts on the project site.
  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure, is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation, is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and define work area limits.
  • Experience with and expertise in the design of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas.
  • Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 24-inches in diameter and larger.
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and construction codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with of Microsoft Office Suite.  Understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley Microstation is a plus.
  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
  • Must have good driving record, and valid driver’s license.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

 

Education and Experience

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum of eight years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to successfully obtain within twelve (12) months.
