Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Prior professional consulting experience preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation and management, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment.
  • The incumbent will have lived experience within the Indigenous community and the ability to provide guidance and support on cultural issues or trends;
  • Experience building partnerships and working with Indigenous businesses, governments, organizations and Peoples;
  • Experience in implementing strategies to increase inclusion;
  • In-depth knowledge of the history and present-day context of Indigenous governments, organizations and Peoples in Canada, the United States, and/or globally;
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and personal accountability with a focus on engaging employees to perform at their best, while promoting the development of the team’
  • Must possess strong facilitative, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills; 
  • Must have strong judgement, ability to deal with sensitive issues, ability to engage at a strategic level, and be a leader who can play a key role supporting management decisions.

Education and Experience

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, public policy and administration, community planning, communications, political science, or related discipline;

10 years’ progressively responsible management experience working with Indigenous Peoples and/or projects;

5 to 10 years’ experience with business development, sector growth, leadership, and team building;

Strong leadership skills with a minimum 5 years of team management experience required; 

Experience with policy research and program development.

 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
