Director of Sports and Leisure Systems
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Working knowledge of software programs and their project applicability and efficiencies including AutoCAD, and familiarity with capabilities of Revit or similar 3D design software.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Understanding of the operational systems for ice facilities and/or the ability to build a requisite team to with these requisite skills.
- Basic understanding of common mechanical systems for aquatic facilities.
- Basic knowledge of the codes and ASHRAE standards that apply to athletic facilities.
- General knowledge of athletic field design practices and construction methodology.
- Able to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Strong desire to mentor and work as a contributing team member within a multidiscipline engineering and design team.
- Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication skills across disciplines and with all client types (public and private sector).
- Working knowledge and ability to lead project procurement (scoping, contract review, fee schedules, etc.)
- Successful track record of client satisfaction and business development in the sports, athletics, ice, and aquatics market.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, landscape architecture, and/or architecture with a minimum of 15- to 20-years of experience.
- Professional registration in engineering, landscape architecture, and/or architecture is preferred.
- Relevant project experience that demonstrates your management, design, and/or technical application of skills for sports facilities including ice and aquatic features.
Work Environment
Typical office environment working with a desktop or laptop. Travel, including field work, may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Regional, national and/or North American based travel for business development is likely. Presence in the office is at least three days per week is preferred. Stantec’s Minneapolis Office is the preferred office location, though the actual office location for the selected candidate is flexible.
