Electric Designer
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Required:
- Buildings electrical design knowledge, including but not limited to electrical, lighting, and fire alarm systems, device layouts, circuiting, panel schedules and load calcs, riser diagrams, and schedules.
- Ability to prepare and review detailed drawings.
- Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, ICT, mechanical and other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
- Strong knowledge applicable codes and standards.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn specialty engineering applications such as SKM Power Tools.
- Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.
- Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism, demeanor, and technical knowledge.
- Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively support technical project consultation with key clients and project stakeholders.
- Familiarity with CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software; in particular, AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Preferred:
- Professional experience in buildings electrical design for additional market segments in which we operate (healthcare, education, military and commercial).
- Familiarity with various construction delivery processes such as Design-Build.
- Knowledge of specialty electrical or lighting calculation applications.
- Additional professional certifications, registrations, and credentials relevant to Stantec’s practice areas and/or markets.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors' degree in related field
- Minimum 3 years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
- Professional PE preferred
Office Location and Schedule:
This position exists at Stantec’s Honolulu, HI location but may require occasional presence in other offices, at project sites, and at meetings.
Regional travel is potential. Out-of-state travel may be required. To meet this requirement, a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is necessary for this position.
This position requires some weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with scheduling flexibility available.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The staff member must occasionally operate a motor vehicle.
