Your Opportunity

Join Stantec’s collaborative, high-performing team and play an integral role in projects involving wetlands, wildlife, ecological and regulatory needs. Stantec is seeking a Senior Wetland Scientist/Project Manager to join our teams in the Columbus area. Projects typically require wetland delineations, wildlife and habitat surveys, vegetation monitoring, and an understanding of Midwest ecological systems..

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager or Task Manager for ecological assessment and waterway/wetland regulatory projects.
  • Collect field data, conduct analysis, and prepare technical reports.
  • Knowledge and experience with wetland delineation methodologies.
  • Develop local, state, and federal wetland and jurisdictional water permit applications.
  • Develop local and state erosion and sediment control permits.
  • Knowledge and experience with vegetation monitoring and sampling methodologies.
  • Assessing endangered species habitats.
  • Soil identification and identification of hydric soil indicators.
  • Plant identification and identification of hydrophytic vegetation.
  • Responsible for projects budgets, scope changes and schedule commitments.
  • Participate in business development activities such as proposal development and client meetings.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience conducting fieldwork, including wetland delineations,
  • Strong field botany skills and ability to conduct fieldwork, at times for long hours or under strenuous circumstances.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solution orientation, detail oriented and resourceful.
  • Flexible, team-oriented approach, with the willingness and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Effective time management and follow-through.
  • Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of special status species in the Midwest.
  • Knowledge of energy and transportation sector projects.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in botany, plant ecology, wetlands ecology, riparian ecology, conservation biology, or related science.
  • 7+ years of related, professional experience.
