Environmental Sciences Intern/Co-op Student

The successful candidate will have the following: 

Adaptability, organization, critical thinking, self-motivation, a keen willingness to learn, a love of the outdoors, wilderness and travel experience, attention to detail, succinct writing ability, and ability to multitask.

Additional skills such as current First Aid training, WHMIS, H2S Alive, UTV operator training, CABIN protocol training, electrofishing certification, water and soils sampling, bird and plant identification, mechanical aptitude and experience in the field of Environmental Science, Biology, Fisheries, Aquatic Biology, Forestry, Terrestrial Ecology, or Marine Biology are assets, but are not required. A driver’s license and vehicle may be required.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate must (at minimum) be enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a University Co-op degree program in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Aquatic Toxicology, Forestry, Terrestrial Ecology, Marine Biology or a related discipline. Recent graduates of these university programs are also invited to apply.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include long days (12 hours), in challenging remote locations, last minute schedule changes and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
