Your Opportunity 

Stantec is looking for the newest members of our environmental services team in Coral Harbour, Nunavut to specifically support environmental monitoring, remediation, and permitting opportunities. This work includes supporting a large local project. If you are curious, a good communicator, and are interested in working in a fast-paced environment full of opportunities for field work and on the job learning in Nunavut, then we are looking for you!

Our Northern teams work closely together on environmental, remediation, civil construction, and engineering projects and are proud work closely with Inuit communities on almost every project. We are also proud to deliver work in the North through our Indigenous Partnerships Nunami Stantec Limited and K’alo-Stantec Limited.

In this role, you will work as part of our Environmental Services team in the completion of the Coral Harbour Remediation Project. Working closely with our senior technicians, scientists, and engineers, you will have opportunities for field work relating to science, engineering, and construction. There are also opportunities to participate in other environmental projects throughout Nunavut. This is an entry-level / seasonal position; however, there are many exciting opportunities for growth.

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with and assist project managers and team members including biologists, archaeologists, engineers, planners, and environmental scientists.
  • Conduct desktop project-related research (e.g., historical data, regulations, literature reviews using a Stantec supplied computer).
  • Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training and follow health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Support environmental remediation projects.
  • Support spill response projects with tasks including environmental monitoring.
  • Conduct both active layer water/groundwater and surface water sampling, along with drilling programs, soil logging and sampling.
  • Assist with onsite construction observation, contractor coordination, and daily inspection reports.

Your Capabilities and Credentials 

 Education and Experience

  • Current enrollment and/or completion of a technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in an environmental related field is an asset.

Stantec will provide role specific training, along with a laptop, cellphone, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Travel to and from each community and accommodation in the communities you are working in will be covered while working. There are no meal allowances when in camp, but there are on travel days, per the National Joint Council meal rates. Work schedules may vary depending on the commute required for the successful candidate to the Coral Harbour region.
