Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an Equipment Operator in our Ecological Restoration area to implement construction work. Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Project Manager, the position requires implementing a high-quality product, interpreting construction plans/ specifications, adherence to Stantec’s Health and Safety culture, and ensuring equipment function and maintenance. Projects will involve operating light and heavy equipment including tractors, skid steers, excavators, and bulldozers.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Implementing and constructing restoration project work at the ground level under the direction of regional Operations Manager and/or Project Managers
- Grading, placement of rock and water structures, native planting, seeding, erosion control installation, mowing, herbicide application, prescribed fire or any other activities necessary with field implementation of ecological restoration projects
- Performing field labor at times.
- Work a typical workday, which may consist of an 8–10-hour day, in accordance with the requirements of specific assignments, and may include irregular hours.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Must have ability to travel overnight; Operators may be required to spend up to 1-4 nights per week out of town working at remote locations for assignments
- Adhering to corporate policies, operate through the proper management channels, and act in the best interest of firm
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license are required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Typical field work environments require the ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time on uneven terrain, lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds, and climb a ladder. Field work will include exposure to inclement weather conditions.
- Basic Survey Knowledge- Trimble and laser level knowledge, preferred not mandatory
- Operating a Global Positioning System, preferred not mandatory
- Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, GED or Associates
- 4+ years’ operating heavy machinery
- Experience or willingness to operate truck/ trailer combinations (+20,000 lb GVWR)
- Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship
