Your Opportunity
As a member of the Financial Services – Corporate team, the Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for supporting Stantec’s budgeting, forecasting, financial planning processes, allocation processes, as well as other special projects as required. This is a highly visible role with opportunity to interact with key members of Leadership across the company.
Reporting to the Financial Manager, FP&A, this role offers valuable learning opportunities and experience in the areas of financial modeling, financial systems and financial reporting. The role also involves the administration, development and maintenance of the Financial Planning Cloud Based Services (PBCS) system.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assists with the coordination, facilitation and reporting of the business plan, five-year financial plan, annual budget, and quarterly forecasting processes;
- Provides accurate financial analytics and reports by collecting, formatting, analyzing and explaining data and tracking key metrics;
- Assists with ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business decisions, changes, and trends;
- Builds financial databases by identifying sources of information, assembling, verifying, and backing up data;
- Works closely with the entire finance team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with IFRS, and maintain consistency across all platform;
- Identifies and drives process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, dashboards, and policy for data management and governance;
- Assists Mangers FP&A with providing systems and process training as required;
- Provides support to other individual contributors and cross functional teams requiring Company financial information and metrics;
- Performs market research, data mining, and business intelligence ;
- Protects the organization by keeping financial information confidential;
- Communicate and explain data policies, standards, and guidelines to stakeholders and manage conflicting interests.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Sound financial modelling/analysis skills in excel, analytical and problem-solving skills with solid understanding of accounting principles;
- Experience in IFRS and SOX controls ERP, data base management, and data analysis
- High accuracy and attention to details and assess priorities
- Ability to interact and work effectively independently, and as part of a cross-functional team;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
Education and Experience
- The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance
- A minimum of five years’ related work experience accounting
- Candidate or member of CPA or CFA preferred
