Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a Fuel Systems Project Manager in Portland, ME!

This is an opportunity to join Stantec's fast paced and nationally recognized Fuel System Engineering Team as a Project Manager and Senior Engineer.  The Team specializes in the design of unique end-user fuel storage and dispensing facilities. This position will be responsible for working primarily with the Team in the Portland, ME office managing the design of fuel system infrastructure projects, conducting business development activities, completing project management tasks, and traveling nationally to meetings and construction sites. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • The position requires supervision of staff.
  • Active engagement with the Stantec community, including active attendance with events and being a champion for internal groups is expected.
  • Engagement internally and externally with colleagues, business partners, clients, and consultants required.
  • Contribute to industry and Stantec brand awareness through thought leadership (such as speaking engagements, blogs, etc.) and involvement in professional organizations expected.
  • Accountable for project technical and financial success and will be expected to meet BC and company financial goals and project margins.
  • Work with other groups, including environmental, mechanical, structural, and civil engineering may be required.
  • Duties will include both work in the office and work in the field in a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
  • Local, regional, and national travel occasionally is required.
  • Office work will include the supervision of Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work for civil, mechanical and electrical (focused on fuel) systems in AutoCAD and Revit, as well as specification and design report writing. 
  • Occasional direct work in CAD software is expected.
  • Out of office work will include client meetings, project meetings, business development activities, construction observation, site inspection, and compliance inspection.

  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate and work effectively with many different stakeholders are all important qualities.
  • Successful candidates will be self-starters who know how to manage projects proactively to anticipate and avoid challenges before they happen.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Education and Experience

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, required.
  • 12 years minimum work experience in fuel system, energy, or process engineering required.
  • Experience with the design of fuel (gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, CNG, H2, LP) systems highly desired.
  • Demonstrated design Project Management experience with increasing responsibility required.
  • Experience with the design of aviation/airport fuel systems, motor vehicle fuel systems, alternative fuel systems, and construction is a is plus.
  • Competence with MS Word and Excel required. 
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit is required. 
  • PE license in a US State is required.

Typical office environment working with computers.  May occasionally visit study areas in Vermont and throughout New England.
