About the role:

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our water dams and hydropower specialist consulting group. In this position you will play a significant role in developing our dams geotechnical engineering capabilities in Queensland. In a close-knit and growing local office in Brisbane, you will be part of the much larger, national ground engineering team. Reporting to the water dams and hydropower team leader, this role will require a balance of independence and collaboration in approach. Working with experienced team members and clients, your role would have you involved in exciting and diverse projects in a range of water infrastructure projects.

Day to day tasks would involve:

·       Compliance and preparation of geotechnical logs in accordance with AS1726:2017.

·       Organise and interpret data from geotechnical investigations for analysis.

·       Complete analysis and geotechnical report preparation under some supervision.

·       Use knowledge of general concepts of geotechnical engineering elements in geotechnical investigations for dams, analysis and design; to support water dams related engineering projects.

·       Perform calculations to analyse and design geotechnical engineering components, as well as demonstrate use of in-house and proprietary manufacturer software in an efficient manner.

·       Interpretation and compliance verification of design inputs with applicable codes and engineering standards, in particular AS1726:2017 and ANCOLD guidelines.

·       Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals within Stantec in project coordination and geotechnical support under the direction of senior dams engineers.

·       Perform dams geotechnical engineering field work related to planning, design and construction.

·       Assess ground conditions and prepare geotechnical ground models.

·       Plan and conduct geotechnical site investigations in accordance with AS1726:2017.

·       Expectation to travel and complete site work in accordance with project requirements, along with a full valid Australian driver’s license (up to 50% of field based presence in a calendar year).

·       Perform other duties as assigned by senior dams engineers.

 

To be successful for this role you'll need:

·       Minimum of bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (BE), with a strong focus in Geotechnical Engineering.

·       Minimum of 2 years as a Geotechnical Engineer

·       Be flexible to required travel to support projects (domestic and international) along with a passion for site-based work.

·       Currently hold a full driver’s licence for site-based work.
