Your Opportunity
Stantec has an opportunity for a motivated GIS Intern. This position will support spatial analysis, 3D analysis, database development and map production efforts in support of Stantec’s Community Development business line on a wide range of projects, including FEMA Flood Insurance Studies. This is an excellent career opportunity for an individual to join a team of multidisciplinary professionals in a fast paced, customer driven environment in our Raleigh, NC office. The position offers a great opportunity to apply the latest in GIS technology for community development, planning, transportation, and other infrastructure related projects and studies.
This individual will utilize GIS software to create and edit geospatial data and develop mapping to support related projects. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of ESRI software including ArcGIS Pro. This position will work within a team of GIS professionals that are passionate about their work. This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to pursue a potential career in GIS.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Cartography and map development.
- Prepare flood mapping products and flood risk products based on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Spatial analysis, 3D analysis and database management
- Communication and collaboration with the project team, project managers;
- Occasional field data collection (e.g. GPS/GIS data collection); and
- Developing official correspondence for communities.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Working knowledge of ESRI software products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for geography, GIS, technology, and information communication; and
- Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks, concurrently
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographical Information Systems, or a related field; or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and has included major course work in Geographic Information Systems.
Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
