What do our Graduate Electrical Engineers do?

Electrical engineers in the Stantec Water team (where this role is placed) focus on electrical engineering activities associated with power distribution, automation and control systems related to industrial processes. We work on large water and wastewater treatment plants, hydro power schemes, dams, reservoirs, pump stations, and other industrial processing plants.

 

As a graduate engineer you will build upon the academic knowledge gained from university and learn to apply that knowledge to solve practical problems in industry. Our graduates work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to deliver engineering designs for various projects.

 

Your day to day tasks will include but not limited to:

  • Completing electrical engineering design calculations - maximum demand, fault current calculations, earth fault loop impedance, voltage drop, etc.
  • Electrical circuit designs for industrial equipment power supply, automation and control
  • Site visits for field data collection
  • Developing CAD schematics in AutoCAD
  • Learning and referencing New Zealand and other international standards in designs
  • Writing and contributing to various design documents

What you will bring

As a graduate engineer you will bring the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with good academic record
  • A passion for engineering
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent numerical and data analysis skills
  • Excellent time management skills

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be a recent graduate or due to finish studies by December 2025
  • Preferably have a full clean current driving license
  • Working Rights: Student Visa, Permanent Resident, Citizen
