What do our Graduate Mechanical Engineers do?
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at Stantec’s Auckland office, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting building services projects across various sectors, including healthcare, commercial, residential, and mission-critical infrastructure. You will join a vibrant and diverse team, collaborating on innovative projects both locally and internationally, contributing to high-impact developments across New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region.
Your work will span the entire project lifecycle, from concept design to construction and commissioning. You’ll gain hands-on experience in mechanical systems design, from HVAC and energy efficiency to critical infrastructure and sustainability solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with a variety of clients, ranging from local government bodies and private developers to large-scale, mission-critical facilities.
You will be based in our newly fitted-out office located near the domain with access to Auckland’s vibrant urban lifestyle. Whether you’re exploring the nearby parks, visiting museums, or enjoying Auckland’s café scene, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to unwind after work.

What you will bring
You will be a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline, ready to kick start your professional engineering career! You should have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
You should have a real passion for mechanical design and building services, especially when it comes to making a positive impact on society. Whether it’s helping to create pandemic-ready healthcare facilities, designing mission-critical infrastructure for things like AI training, or contributing to sustainable, resilient buildings that serve communities for years to come, we want someone who’s excited about driving change. You will demonstrate personal leadership qualities and thrive in an environment in which they are challenged.
To be eligible to apply you must:
- Be a recent graduate or due to finish studies by December 2026
- Preferably hold a current restricted or full driving licence
- Working Rights in New Zealand (Student Visa holder, convertible to post study open work visa, Permanent Resident OR Citizen)
