What do our Graduate Network Planners do?

Are you passionate about the environment and water? Do you have interest in how three waters are serviced to our communities? Are you interested in exploring how data analytics can help us deliver these services? We service both international and local clients on a range of three waters network planning projects. As a Graduate in the Network Planning team, you will collaborate with a diverse team on a wide range of engaging and strategically driven projects.

Some of the exciting projects that our Wellington team are working on:

  • Model build and calibration
  • Master planning and growth assessments
  • Flooding studies and option development
  • Servicing strategies and network assessments
  • Data analytics and insights to identify problems and develop solutions
  • Supporting Stantec international teams on wastewater overflows and environmental impact assessments (United Kingdom) and master plans (Australia)

Day to day tasks could include:

  • Assisting in the development of network models (all three waters) used in the assessment of infrastructure design solutions, master planning and operational optimization
  • Connecting data-driven insights with strategic decision-making, for future service offerings
  • Executing project design, documentation and quality assurance
  • Supporting project managers and senior technical personnel in client engagements and presentation of findings
  • Engaging in innovation, experimentation, and learning to develop competitive industry-leading practices
  • Supporting proposal and bid development, preparing materials that highlight our teams’ expertise
  • Building, developing and maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with your colleagues both locally and internationally.

What you will bring 

You will be a recent graduate having completed a degree in either civil engineering, environmental science, geography, data science, or science with a keen interest in learning and developing skills in network planning. We are looking for someone who has the ability to use their initiative and think outside the box. A positive, can-do attitude is a must for this role. Preferred candidates will have strong problem-solving, programming and communication skills.

You will have a strong interest in water, as we look to improve the world we live in, seizing the environmental challenges that we all face and coming up with solutions that will benefit generations to come.

To be eligible to apply you must: 

  • Be a recent graduate or due to complete your tertiary education in 2025
  • Preferably have a full clean current driving licence
  • Working Rights in New Zealand (Student Visa holder, convertible to post study open work visa, Permanent Resident OR Citizen)
