What you’ll do? 

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer at Stantec, you will contribute to designs, calculations, technical reporting, construction monitoring, and advice for our clients around the region and nationally.  

 

You will join a Christchurch and South Island team that works on infrastructure projects, not only locally, but across New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region. You will work with a diverse client set that ranges from local government and private developers and even includes clients in the Pacific and beyond. 

Some of the existing projects this team is involved in include new or existing bridges and other structures, retaining walls, bridge inspections, bridge repairs and new water or roading structures. You will support these projects by taking the following responsibilities: 

 

 

Your Role: 

Complete structural element designs - this could be concrete, steel or timber  

·        Assist and complete site inspections with other structural engineers  

·        Liaise and assist geotechnical engineers to understand their ground investigation requirements and results 

·       Contribute to reports, specifications, and drawings.  

·        Structural modelling, typically in Microstran, SAP2000 and ETABs  

·        Sketching details, by hand, or on the computer to assist in generating drawing packages  

 

What You Bring: 

  • Recent graduate with a Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering (hon) or Master of Civil Engineering 

  • Motivated, pragmatic, and eager to learn across various disciplines 

  • Strong interest in water engineering 

  • Demonstrated personal leadership qualities and thrive in challenging environments

     

     

Eligibility: 

  • Be a recent graduate or due to finish studies by December 2026 

  • Preferably have a full clean current driving licence 

  • Working Rights: Student Visa, Permanent Resident, Citizen
