BUILDINGS: Group Leader, Mechanical, Hydraulic & Sustainability

As the Group Leader, Mechanical, Hydraulic & Sustainability, you'll shape the future of design innovation and sustainable engineering across New Zealand. This leadership role blends technical excellence, people leadership, and business strategy, driving performance and growth for our Buildings team.
Key aspects of the role will include;
Technical Leadership:
Oversee the design and delivery of complex building systems — mechanical, hydraulic, and sustainability — ensuring compliance with codes, environmental standards, and technical excellence.
Provide thought leadership, mentor technical teams, and help set new design standards.
Operational Excellence:
Partner with leadership to align strategy, performance, and resourcing.
Manage business planning, backlog, and utilisation across dynamic project workloads.
Client Focus & Business Development:
Lead client relationships and identify opportunities to grow our portfolio of landmark projects across Aotearoa.
Drive collaboration across business centres and disciplines to deliver seamless client experiences.
People Leadership:
Champion talent development, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Foster a collaborative, empowered, and high-performing culture.
Guide team members toward professional accreditation and career growth.
Health, Safety & Quality:
Embed a proactive safety culture and commitment to quality in every project stage.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven leadership within the building services, mechanical, or sustainability disciplines.
- Experience managing projects, people, and performance in a consulting or design environment.
- Strong client relationship and business development skills.
- Commitment to sustainability, health & safety, and continuous improvement.
