HSSE Advisor

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Professional safety certification will be considered an asset. Preferred certifications include:  CSP/CRSP, CIH, SME – CMSP, ASP, GSP, OHST or CHST.
• Extensive experience in HSSE related to field operations is required.
• Maintain required field HSSE courses to work in the relevant sectors.
• Working knowledge of HSSE regulations in the US. Knowledge of California regulations is an asset.
• Strong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and to work independently.
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal, organizational abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Capable of delivering, preparing, and presenting to small and large groups.
• Strong business development skills and understanding as it relates to HSSE.
• Ability to coach and mentor employees.
• Ability to identify and recruit new employees.
• A willingness to work in a team atmosphere or with a minimal amount of supervision.
• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Requires up to 20% travel. Typically, 2 weeks or less in duration.
• Physically capable of performing field work; including walking on uneven terrain and able to lift 50-lbs.

Education and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health and safety profession in an advisor or technician level role.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field from recognized university preferred.
• Experience providing safety support for large construction projects is preferred.

Periodic field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
