Your Opportunity

 

Stantec is seeking an individual to assist employees the implementation of Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) programs in the offices in our US South region. The position is full-time position based out of one of our larger offices in the South and will report to the HSSE Manager – US South.    

 

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Support office leadership and local HSSE personnel to effectively use Stantec’s HSSE systems including the HSSE program manual, OHS management system, and safe work practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of local and regional HSSE documents related to emergency planning, ergonomics, chemical management, and regional HSSE risks.
  • Provide coaching, advice, and direction to staff regarding HSSE.
  • Develop and provide trainings and communications to employees related to Stantec’s risks and controls.
  • Work with the HSSE Manager to track and manage incidents, identify effective preventative and corrective actions, track corrective action closure, and develop and share lessons learned.
  • Provide technical assistance to project teams with pre-job planning and hazard assessments for field activities and the integration of client or geographic HSSE requirements.
  • Promote HSSE within the area of responsibility with the goal of continuous improvement of HSSE culture.
  • Support office teams in the completion of internal and external HSSE audits.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong interpersonal skills to support staff in numerous offices across the US South.
  • Ability to organize work processes, assess priorities, and work independently.
  • An interest in working collaboratively in a team atmosphere.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and deliver training to large groups in person and virtually.
  • Working knowledge of HSSE regulations in the US.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Professional safety certification or ability to obtain preferred. Examples include  CSP/ASP/GSP, OHST/CHST, SMS.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001/140001/45001 certified work environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Requires up to 10% travel: typically, 2 weeks or less in duration.

 

Education and Experience 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a health and safety role.
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field from recognized university preferred.
