Your Capabilities and Credentials 

The ideal candidate would possess a broad range of skill and capabilities across numerous areas that encompass corrosion technical expertise, although candidates who possess highly specialized skills in any one area are encouraged to apply:

  • Fitness for Service Assessment (e.g., API 579) 
  • Corrosion Assessments: External/ internal corrosion direct/ indirect assessment (ECDA, ICDA)
  • Facility/ Pipeline Integrity Programs 
  • Materials (Welding and NDE) 
  • Cathodic Protection and AC/DC Interference
  • Safety Loss Management 
  • Risk/Reliability Studies  

Additional capabilities and credentials include:

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Able to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptability 
  • Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, and mapping tools such as Google Earth 
  • Sound technical background and understanding of corrosion, including degradation mechanisms, inspection methods, risk based inspection assessment, cathodic protection, and field data gathering and troubleshooting
  • Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License. 
  • Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug & alcohol screen. 

Basic/ Minimum Requirements

  • 5 Years Work Experience in engineering in one or more of the following areas:
  • Experience working with Risk Based Inspection programs
  • Experience working with Integrity Data Management Systems (IDMS).
  • Individual will perform basic calculations using corrosion data to determine inspection schedules and equipment/piping remaining life.
  • Performing internal and external visual inspections including oversee non-destructive testing results; recording data and information to assure equipment histories are current; analyzing inspection findings and developing recommendations; and preparing inspection reports for engineering and operations review.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate inspection results. 
  • Ability to support, develop and improve the asset integrity inspection program.
  • Participate and support internal/external asset integrity related audits, risk surveys, PHAs.   
  • Participate in and support root cause failure analysis studies to determine failure modes. 
  • Assist with degradation mechanism identification and analysis as part of routine inspection recommendations and developing RBI programs.
  • Maintain and communicate current code, regulatory requirements pertaining to the asset integrity program 

Basic understanding and or holder of:

  • Fitness for Service Assessment (e.g., API 579)
  • AMPP/NACE CP1 Certification (Cathodic Protection Tester)
  • AMPP/ Basic Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 1)

Preferred Requirements

Between 10-15 years of work experience in engineering in one or more of the following areas:

  • All of the areas above
  • Asset integrity (e.g., pipeline, facility) applications (e.g., risk-based inspection, inspection technologies, repair recommendations)
  • Perform, oversee and /or manage inspections on piping circuits / vessels as needed and recommend and approve repairs in consultation with the customer.

Preferred Certifications

  • API 580 Certification (Risk Based Inspection)
  • API 571 Certification (Corrosion and Materials)
  • AMPP/ Certified Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 2)
  • AMPP/NACE CP2 Certification (Cathodic Protection Technologist)
  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Exemplary Requirements 

Exemplary candidates will be able to do all the above, > 15 years’ experience, and may hold these highly valued industry certifications:

  • API 510 Certification (Pressure Vessel Inspector)
  • API 570 Certification (Piping Inspector)
  • API 653 Certification (Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector) 
  • AMPP/NACE CP3 Certification (Cathodic Protection Specialist)
  • AMPP/NACE CP4 Certification (Cathodic Protection Specialist)
  • AMPP/ Senior Certified Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 3)

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering from a recognized university or college. Graduate degree preferred 
  • 5 years of CP work experience, with minimum 2 years field experience preferred 
  • Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
