Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Overhead and underground distribution line design experience serving BC Hydro and/ or other utilities in North America.
  • Working knowledge of power structure analysis software such as SPIDAcalc, PLS CADD, or similar, is an asset.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code and electrical design principles.
  • Knowledge of Engineering/Design Standards and Codes are an asset.
  • Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to lead a group of designers and drafters, pay attention to detail and continual diligence to follow-up. Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Self-motivated, with strong desire to learn and fulfill client expectations.
  • Well organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
  • Must be able to be a part of cross-functional teams with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other members of the team, to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
  • Experience in project management considered an asset
  • Field review and commissioning experience is considered an asset
  • Class 5 driver’s license and focused on safety

Education and Experience

Diploma/degree from a recognized technical institute or university with at least three to five years electric power utility experience (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Power).


Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
