Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to coordinate work on large, complex projects.
  • Well developed understanding of electrical and building codes.
  • Basic knowledge of complex electrical engineering calculations.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Understand electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Ability to manage individual and group time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Highly proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Revit and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Thorough understanding of CAD/BIM Standards.
  • Ability and willingness to supervise and mentor junior and intermediate staff.

Education and Experience

  • Professional Engineering designation with APEGGA or Professional Technologist designation with ASET.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in instrumentation, controls and electrical systems including:
  • Electrical, instrumentation and controls design;
  • Electrical, instrumentation and controls specifications;
  • Industrial data communications design and specification; and
  • Expert-level working knowledge of the following SCADA systems.
  • Schneider Unity Pro
  • Allen Bradley Factory Talk View
  • Inductive Automation – Ignition
  • Intermediate-Level working knowledge of the Following SCADA systems:
  • Schneider ClearSCADA; and
  • GE iFIX SCADA.
  • Expert-level working knowledge of the following PLC systems:
  • Allen Bradley 500 and 5000 series logic;
  • Schneider Quantum; and
  • Schneider M-Series.
  • Field commissioning in control, instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Ability to write professional documentation including new work proposals, Design Basis Memorandums, Technical Memos, Master Plans and System and Equipment assessment plans.
  • Experience in the following areas are not essential but would be considered an asset:
  • Allen Bradley SLC and PLC5 Series Controllers.
  • Municipal water/wastewater process design.
  • Detailed engineering design and specification of electrical, instrumentation, communications and controls systems pertaining to water and wastewater treatment and distribution/ collection.
  • Working knowledge of communications systems (cellular, radio, hardline, Ethernet, serial) to understand, design, specify, configure and communicate system topologies as it pertains to industrial automation systems. 
  • Working knowledge in understanding, design, specification, and configuration of industrial server systems (both hardware and cloud-based) as it pertains to industrial automation systems. 
  • Visual basic, C++, PHP, SQL, JavaScript/CSS and HTML5 and LISP programming. 
  • GIS Data Management ArcGIS Server, SQL Server, FME, Python programming.
  • Emerson DeltaV Software.
  • VT SCADA software.
  • The candidate should also possess the following traits:

  • Enjoy maintaining and enhancing code to meet changing needs.
  • Have a “customer-service” attitude to service Clients needs.
  • Be willing to learn and adopt new concepts from colleagues.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Be willing to travel, ranging from approximately 1-10 days at a time.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
