Intermediate to Senior Water Balance/Water Quality Modeller
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Well-developed understanding of the general concepts and relevant areas of water balance and water quality modeling, including hydrology, stream hydraulics, water quality, stormwater drainage, and erosion and sediment planning, control, and management.
- A British Columbia professional designation or eligibility within one year is required
- Knowledge of various water quantity/water quality modeling software (e.g., GoldSim, Cormix) and GIS or other similar software
- Application of geospatial databases and big-data management including statistical analyses and advanced programming are considered assets
- Ability to manage time to meet project schedules and budgets
- A strong affinity for internal and external business development and client management is a benefit for this position
- Superior and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Education and Experience
An educational background in science or civil or environmental engineering.
A masters-level degree or higher and several years of consulting experience are assets.
At least two years of experience using GoldSim software.
Experience with Environmental Assessments in a Canadian regulatory context is required.
Experience and knowledge of mining operations and environmental management.
At least 5 years of directly applicable experience in several of the following (or an equivalent combination of education and experience, e.g., an advanced degree):
- Water balance/water quality modeling
- Hydrologic, hydraulic, or geochemical modeling
- Surface water or water quality baseline and impact assessment
- Surface water supply assessment and permitting
- Hydrology or water quality monitoring program design and execution
- Canadian context and regulatory environment
The successful candidate will be required to primarily work in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Occasional seasonal fieldwork may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather and rough terrain, and requirements to lift items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
