Your Opportunity
We are looking for a talented Intern Landscape Architect / Junior Landscape Designer to join our team of professionals in a full-time capacity starting Spring 2025. You will have unique opportunities to work on projects of local, provincial and national significance for public and private clients. Your Key Responsibilities
You will be a team member on large and small project teams under the guidance of a Landscape Architect on a variety of projects, ranging in size from neighborhood parks to community master plans. You will determine landscape requirements, conduct preliminary site studies and prepare preliminary and detailed designs. As part of our team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals on projects ranging from initial visioning to final construction.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Intermediate and Senior Landscape Architects with the preparation of design and construction drawings;
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, tender documents, and construction takeoffs;
- Prepare presentation graphics and renderings;
- Conduct site analyses and construction inspections;
- Assist with work on Parks and Recreation Master Plans, including report writing endeavors;
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, engineers, planners, ecologists and archeologists.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of landscape and construction drawings;
- High proficiency in AutoCAD;
- Proficiency working in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with 3D rendering software an asset (Sketch-up, Lumion, Enscape, etc.);
- Freehand plan, section, and vignette sketching would be considered an asset;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong time management, critical thinking and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction methods, planting methods and local plant material;
- Be a self-starter and motivated individual to successfully complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Local and regional travel is expected, and the successful applicant shall supply their own vehicle.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design Diploma, or completion of an accredited landscape architecture education program from a recognized educational institution.
- Working experience in the field of Landscape Design or Landscape Architecture is considered an asset.
This position will primarily work in an office setting however, some field work will be required.
