Your Opportunity

As an Intern/Co-op, you will work in a team environment and may have exposure to infrastructure projects which may include water/wastewater piping, pump stations, treatment facilities, stormwater infrastructure, etc. Our interns may also work on design and analyses involving hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stream restoration and natural channel design, water availability modeling and regional water planning. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken civil and/or environmental engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports
  • Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations for design projects
  • Gaining exposure and performing basic tasks in CAD, GIS, and other design programs
  • Performing construction observations and assisting with field work, as needed
  • Working with engineering modeling software that may include CAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and InfoWorks ICM, or other water related programs.
  • Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction
  • Willingness to learn

Education and Experience

  • In progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil or environmental engineering or related field
  • Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following: Planning, design, construction of infrastructure, and construction management, process/environmental engineering

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for an extended period. An office presence is expected to maximize learning during the co-op period. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
