Junior Noise Specialist/Acoustic Engineer

These services encompass permitting, monitoring, modeling, planning, policy studies, design, and control.
We are looking for a Junior Noise Specialist/Acoustic Engineer with enthusiasm and a keen interest in noise and vibration to join our collaborative team. This position provides opportunities to work on impactful projects while advancing your career.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct field programs, including noise and vibration monitoring, typically requiring travel across regions (e.g., Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, etc).
- Perform noise and vibration impact assessments, including source characterization, modeling, mitigation, and reporting.
- Operate, maintain, and upgrade field equipment (e.g., sound level meters, calibrators, weather meters, power supplies).
- Process, interpret, and document results using advanced software and techniques.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and documentation with support from senior team members.
- Collaborate with internal and external project teams to deliver client-focused solutions.
- Support standardization and improvement of data collection and analysis methods.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- A degree in engineering, physics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and work in a collaborative environment.
- Experience with field monitoring or data collection instrumentation.
- A valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel for fieldwork.
Education and Experience
1-4 years of consulting experience in noise and/or vibration.
Familiarity with noise and vibration measurement instruments (e.g., Larson Davis, B&K).
Knowledge of noise modeling software (e.g., Cadna/A, TNM).
Programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or C++.
Proficiency in Excel Macros/VBA for workflow efficiency.
Understanding of provincial noise guidelines (e.g., Alberta, BC) and federal regulations.
Registration or eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training with relevant provincial bodies.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Potential for a hybrid approach for the office working environment Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement.
