Your Opportunity

The role of a process mechanical engineer is to work on smaller projects and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You will have the opportunity to work with more senior design staff to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project and perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, report preparation, and field work. You will perform the routine aspects of engineering assignments and may assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
  • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of process mechanical systems.
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases including facility layouts, diagrams, details and assisting with P&ID development.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responding to requests for information, preparing site observation reports, and performing other contract administration tasks.
  • Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
  • Assists in the evaluation and selection of process mechanical systems and materials.
  • Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
  • Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
  • Implements sustainable design principles.
  • Performs calculations to analyze and design process mechanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

Your Capabilities and Credentials 

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of related work experience;
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University and either a registered P. Eng. or the ability to become registered with EGM as a P.Eng. or EIT;
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing design services on municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Province of Manitoba;
  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office is a requirement. 
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required as is an ability to work independently within the bounds of direction provided by the project manager;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects;
  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for this position;
  • Travel may be required;
  • Willingness to work in a team environment;
  • Quick and adaptive learner.
  • Interest in developing technical and/or project management specialization in consulting environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience. 

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
